Mask mandates, social distancing requirements continue in retail spaces now at full capacity

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Even though they’re now permitted to operate at 100 percent capacity, mask and social distancing regulations to prevent the spread of COVID-19 remain in effect at West Virginia’s retail, grocery and other stores.

West Virginia Retailers Association applauds the Kroger Company and UFCW Local 400 on reaching an agreement

The West Virginia Retailers Association (WVRA) released a statement Monday congratulating Kroger and UFCW Local 400 on reaching an agreement.  The agreement will help over 4,200 frontline grocery works in Kroger’s 40 stores in West Virginia. The labor agreement includes more than $20 million in pay increases and improvements to the company’s healthcare coverage.

West Virginia is known as "Almost Heaven" as much for its gorgeous mountain topography and roaring whitewater as it is for its rich culture traditions and the never-met-a-stranger disposition of its people.

That heritage passed down from generation to generation has forged a do-it-your-self attitude which is apparent throughout the state, and possibly most visible in our historic downtowns and quaint neighborhood shopping districts.

West Virginia retailers, suppliers working to restock under increased demand

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Restocking work was ongoing in earnest at stores across West Virginia as the Mountain State’s residents, like those in all other states, continued to deal with the effects of the coronavirus, COVID-19, pandemic.

Even without confirmed cases in the state, many pictures from shoppers on social media have shown empty store shelves in recent days.
